Kutiman – ThruYou

March 13th, 2009 by Ian (DJI)

Kutiman

YouTube, once the master of gathering all the world’s great content streamed onto one place, had its good shit taken down in droves. What’s left?  Clusters of decent skits, some really good techno, and billions of poor quality webcam business. Most terabytes?  Garbage at best.

Kutiman has turned that garbage into gold.

Step 1: Don’t click anything yet. Go home from work.
Step 2: Tell your people you live with not to bother you for a half hour.
Step 3: Get your best pair of headphones or PC Stereo. Turn it on. Volume up.
Step 4: Click This. Lay back.

Stuck at work? Don’t trust me? Fine. I’ll tell you what’s coming…

Ben Folds: Stems and Seeds

February 19th, 2009 by Hilden

The age of digital distribution may have audiophiles screaming from the rooftops that the heart has gone out of modern recordings but there are some artists who still listen. Ben Folds happens to be one of them. And he does a lot more than just listen, he responds. His answer to his fans is a fantastic reworking of his latest album, Way to Normal, that not only gives us a better sounding record, but adds a whole lot more.

FFVIII’s The Landing Arranged for Guitar

August 19th, 2008 by PhilthBot69

So I always wanted to hear the Black Mages (Nobuo Uematsu’s rock band) arrange this song for one of their CD’s and in lieu of that not happening on the latest release “Darkness and Starlight” I figured I’d do a quick mock-up of how I’d like to hear it. I had to make a pretty bad midi for some of the backing so the bulk of it is guitar driven rather than keyboard.

I mixed it up with some of the FMV’s from the game to give it a bit of context. Apologies on the dodgy finish but I was running short on time and the first attempt didn’t sync as well as planned…

Hope you enjoy it!

Guitar Remix of Simon’s Theme from Super Castlevania 4

August 19th, 2008 by PhilthBot69

Continuing my musical contributions to the site I present to you all my first remix of a Video-Game theme.

So I’d been playing around with a Macbook Pro I was trialling for work for just over a week now and realised how insanely cool the Garageband app is for creating backing tracks etc. I’d had a few requests recently to record a version of this track (Simon’s Theme – from Super Castlevania 4) so I figured now was a good time to have a play and learn how to use the laptop keyboard to record…

I added some drums and guitars on top and I think it turned out pretty decent!

A Medley of F-Zero on the Guitar

August 15th, 2008 by PhilthBot69

What a treat I have for you the dear reader and robot fan on this fine summer-time Friday morning. Well ok it’s not so fine or summer-like; to be honest it’s raining and dark with the occasional spot of thunder in the background. Either way, now seems as good a time as any to drag-out this old chestnut for your aural pleasure. Go on, click the video and take a listen, you know you want to…

The soundtrack I’m playing over is the “F-Zero X Guitar Arrange Version” album which is sadly out of print and very difficult to find these days. Plus point, some nice bod went and uploaded the entire thing onto Youtube so if you wanted to listen that’s a great place to start.

Now then, if you are good, eat your greens, and the PanicBot5000 permits, I may post in the near future more guitar videos for you. That’d be nice wouldn’t it?
