iApp of the Week: Things

May 17th, 2010 by Hilden

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say that you’re a much more organized person than I am. Over the thirty-plus years I’ve been alive, the lessons I have learned taught me some very important things about what I do and do not do well. Making lists and making sure the tasks of the day are accomplished on time falls squarely into the latter category for me. I’ve simply come to accept my shortcomings as one of my endearing personality quirks. I’m not so sure, however, that this is as endearing to those waiting on the projects as it is to me. Which is why Things, by the fine folks over at Cultured Code, has been such a godsend to me. (more…)

iPhone/iPod Touch Update

November 21st, 2008 by Hilden

Apple released it’s OS 2.2 update for the iPhone and iPod touch today. The reason I’m even bringing this up is that one of the coolest features relates to us, in a way.

The 2.2 update gives you, finally, the ability to download podcasts directly from your iPhone or iPod Touch. No more must you tether the damn thing to the computer in order to get your most recent and luscious episode of Drunken Gamers Radio. About damn time, I say. Podcasts can be found in the iTunes application on your phone or iPod.

In addition to the podcast support, you can also enjoy some new features for the Maps application. The coolest one being that Google Street view is now supported (at least on the iPhone. Folks seem to be missing it on the iPod Touch) as well as some new features for navigation of the Home screen. For those of you hating on the (admittedly terrible) word replacement function, the ability now exists for you to turn that feature off. Also, a slew of security holes have been fixed. Sadly, Cut and Paste is still missing from this damn thing. What does a guy have to do?

If you’re looking for more specifics, as well as some screen shots of the new features, head on over to MacWorld.com.
