Scrub Sports Returns!

February 17th, 2010 by John

by Scott Sauer

Last year, Interactive Distractions and Gamers Only Older teamed up to bring you Scrub Sport, an online fighting game community. In anticipation of the April release of Super Street Fighter IV, the site has re-launched and we have doubled our league offerings. We’ve really broadened the focus of the leagues to include both the casual and hardcore fans alike, by offering Monthly Round Robin tournaments and Weekly Ranbats (Ranking Battles). Having both of these tournament styles easily accommodate all types of gaming schedules as well as being open to both the 360 and the PS3. Through the partnership we’ve fostered with Challonge.com, we’ve also streamlined the record keeping system to allow for more accurate reporting, and the ability to hold ad-hoc exhibition tournaments with ease.

We’ve really leveled up what we’re doing over at Scrub Sport, and I highly recommend stopping by to see the changes or to sign up for one of our many league offerings. Sign-ups go through the end of February, and we kick off March 1st. Come join a brawl that won’t leave you with bruises.

Scrub Sport League: 360 Style

April 29th, 2009 by Hilden

STREETFIGHTER IV - RYU
You may remember a few weeks back when we ran a post about something called the Scrub Sport League. You can find the original post with all the information right here but we’ll just mention that it’s a group of great folks playing a shit-ton of Street Fighter IV.

Well, in our initial post on the League, we mentioned that it was PS3 specific at the time and that a 360 group would be put together if there was enough interest in it. Well, my friends, that time has come. If you’re a 360 owner and have been itching to play some Street Fighter IV with a non-douche crew, than here is your chance.

As it was before, if you’re interested follow this link in order to register for the games. It must be noted that registration closes on Sunday, May 10th.

Click on over and get some Street Fighter IV action in! Thanks to Scott Sauer from the Interactive Distractions podcast and Mark Senger from the PSNation podcast for the heads up!

Scrub Sport SFIV League

March 26th, 2009 by Hilden

STREETFIGHTER IV - KEN
A couple of podcasts that make VGEvo.com their home have set up a Street Fighter IV league and are looking for YOU to join them.

Sponsored by the Interactive Distractions and Welcome to the Goo podcasts, the Scrub Sport League is a way for all you SFIV fans to get some serious playtime with a group of folks with no douche! Important in a game like this.

It’s PS3 only, at this point, but if enough 360 players want in, they may be nice and let you play!

Here are the details from the VGevo.com forums post:

First and foremost, due to the interest voiced – we have to up the schedule of matches, or it would have taken entirely too long to get through the normal season. Even with the revised schedule – it may still be a long season. The new revised schedule is 2 matches per 7 days. That’s 2 different opponents – 5 fights EACH (10 total) every week.

MAKE SURE YOU CAN COMMIT TO THAT BEFORE SIGNING UP.

So – here’s the skinny:

1. Go register on http://sf.interactivedistractions.com/index.php – this is our dedicated league space. Please try to keep your handles at least similar to VGEvo user names. It will be easier for all.

2. Once registered, you can post a reply in the Season 1 official sign up. You can navigate to it via Board Index > Scrub Sport SF4 League > Season 01: Regular Season > **OFFICIAL SIGN-UP FOR SEASON 1**. Or, if you keep this window open, you can go here: http://sf.interactivedistractions.co…ic.php?f=7&t=7

3. The rules and setup of the league are also linked from that thread. By signing up, you are automatically agreeing to said rules. Please read them before signing up or asking questions.

4. Sign-Ups close at Saturday the 28th of March, at midnight Central Standard Time (-600). The first week of match-ups will be made available Sunday night or Monday morning at some point in time.

5. In the meantime – browse around and see what else is available there, talk strategies, setup some non-league matches – whatever. This is a dedicated SF4 web space – use it to the fullest.

If you have any questions or have issues with registering, you can post them here. Everything else – do it at the site. Any “I’m in” posts in this thread will be happily ignored unless you’ve also posted on the dedicated web space. Happy Gaming.

By the sound of it, some serious players are in the league but folks tell me that there are enough scrubs (like me) that it’ll be a good time for all. Registration ends this Saturday (March 28) so get cracking if you want in!

Fright-Rags.com

How awesome is Fright-Rags.com? So awesome.

Jason Oestreicher, who you may know as one of the guys from the Interactive Distractions Podcast, sent us a link to this fantastic store and has this to say:

I know you guys are fans of all things Zombie and figured you might appeciate some of the stuff they had there. I’ve been ordering shirts from there for about a year now and gotta say… they put out some high quality shit. Also, the owner, Ben, started out doing it all from his basement. The guy’s personable as all hell and you can tell he really loves doing what he does… making fucking kick-ass horror tees. Here are some stand-outs:

Braindead/Deadalive

Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things

Monster Squad

Ash

I don’t know about you but my wallet just got a little bit lighter. There’s also a really cool section where you can see a t-shirt go from conception to design. It’s a really cool look into how these things are made.

Thanks for the link, Jason!
