The Sequel with Lightsabers

January 14th, 2010 by John

You may remember Tony’s last submission, The Revenge with Lightsabers. Starring his adorable son, I couldn’t resist posting it here on the site. It was well-shot and imaginative and really fun to watch. Well here, ladies and gentlemen, is the sequel. Tony just sent this in the other day and it’s just as good as the original with double the cuteness.

The Revenge with Lightsabers

Tony just sent in this video he shot recently with his son. Perhaps it’s the father in me, but I found it completely adorable. Seriously…what a cute kid.

Thanks Tony!

Drunken Zombie Podcast

October 16th, 2009 by Ryker XL

Drunken ZombiesThis being the most wonderful time of the year, I thought I might share with you a kick ass non-gaming podcast devoted to the horror genre.  I accidentally discovered this podcast last summer while searching for zombie stuff for my kid’s birthday party.  Of course with a name like “Drunken Zombies” I just had to check it out.

Brian, Dave, Uncle Randy and Wes are from Illinois and each week they watch a review a scary movie or two.  Eerily there are some similarities between the Drunken Zombies and the Drunken Gamers.  Of course they both drink, swear like sailors, and are funny as shit, but the similarities go deeper than that.

First, these guys are real, they let let you know exactly what they think about a movie.  If it sucks, they will let you know, and I for one appreciate that.  Second, they have a love for the classics and the old-school way of filming horror movies.  They feel that CG takes center screen too often and they yearn for the more films using makeup and latex to gross you out.

Third, like our friends the Drunken Gamers, they are experts in the genre that they love.  While dissecting a Cronenburg movie like The Fly, we glean deep insights into themes and social commentary that quite frankly I missed.  For fans of the genre, it’s quite fun to listen to. And lastly, the Drunken Zombies have a cast of crazed, and often hilarious fans.  For a while they had a caller deemed “The Pervert” who could easily put Phenri and Fluffy Nuts to shame.  Weekly reports from a horror aficionado named “Lord Blod-Rah” gives us a glimpse into horror movie  history; it’s well produced, fun, and provides cool horror trivia for parties.

So if you’re wanting to get a deeper look into things that go bump in the night.  Check out the Drunken Zombies, and prepare for a good time.

Fellow PanicBot5000 lover, Jocelyn, sent in this lovely piece from Slate.com. I’m not sure if this is legit or staged, but it’s funny either way. It’s an interview with the 916th greatest pinball player in the world. My kinda guy. My kinda interview. Enjoy.

Our thanks to Jocelyn for the map to awesomeness!

Angel of Death

March 3rd, 2009 by Tyler Durden84

Being that I am an unabashed comic book geek, one of my favorite comic book writers of all time is Ed Brubaker. His comic book works include Captain America, Criminal, Daredevil and his newest series, Incognito. So when I heard that he is helming the script for a new webisode, I signed up immediately. Well, Monday was the beginning of this new series called Angel of Death. Starring Zoe Bell, whom you may know from Death Proof ( A movie that I still vocally spout hatred for, but still admire it’s existence in a world of unoriginality), as the main character, Eve. Eve is an assassin. An assassin with no qualms about killing anyone in her way. The show is peppered with geek film stars such as Lucy Lawless (Xena: The Warrior Princess, Battlestar Galactica), Ted Raimi (Spider-man 1-3, Evil Dead, Army of Darkness) , and Doug Jones (Hellboy).

So, now here is your chance to join in on the show. Everyday, a new episode will be posted on Crackle.com.

Here’s the first episode:

From Crackle: Angel of Death Ep 1 "Edge" starring Zoe Bell

So far, it’s very stylish and best of all, right to the point. Here’s to the rest of the show!

Half Life 2: Escape From City 17

February 16th, 2009 by Tyler Durden84

Half Life 2: Escape From City 17 is an awesome fan film based on Half Life 2. Needless to say, any Half Life fan should enjoy, and if you haven’t played Half Life 2, go buy the ridiculously awesome and ridiculously low priced Orange Box. The price is only $20 and you get so much more content than you really should.

Enjoy!

Broken Pixels: Season 2

February 9th, 2009 by Mitch

After the fallout from the recent 1UP.com firings, many fans found themselves unsure about the future of some of their favorite 1UP properties, including many of it’s podcasts. One of the more overlooked shows lost in the shuffle was Broken Pixels, the endlessly hilarious Mystery Science Theatre 3000-style show wherein editor Shane Bettenhausen, former EGM writer Crispin Boyer and EGM contributor Sean “Seanbaby” Riley played played a myriad of terrible games with the sole intent to mock them for our amusement. The first season ended last November, with the promise of a new season in January.

But before they could premiere the second season, Bettenhausen left the company in the wake of the UGO buyout, leaving none of the Broken Pixels hosts left at the company. Most fans assumed this to be the end of the show, but apparently  the trio managed to shoot some of the new season before the shakeup, and the fruits of their labor are now being released as Broken Pixels: Season 2. There’s no word on just how much they managed to film, but for a show that many fans believed to be dead, this is certainly a great development.

The new season premiered on Friday with a send-up of the full motion video Sega CD game Wirehead, embedded after the break.

Facebook is Five

February 6th, 2009 by Hilden

The social networking application of the “regular” world just celebrated it’s 5th birthday on Wednesday. It’s a bit of a wonder, if you think about it. While there have been lots of web applications that have, at their heart, connecting people together, something about Facebook just works with the otherwise non-tech savvy world.

Hell, even those that wrote it off as just another stupid version of MySpace have come around in recent months to appreciate the service and what it can do. Whether you use it to look for long lost friends, keep in touch with old ones or use it for business connection purposes, Facebook has grown to be a monster in it’s own right.

However, there are some that see this milestone in the life of Facebook as time to look at just what this web application has done to their lives. Steve Tuttle, a writer over at Newsweek, has a great article where he says good-bye to Facebook. While I think the article plays a little bit to the trendy “publicly ditch it when everyone else thinks it’s cool” thing, I do believe Steve makes a few good points. Most notably the fact that I spend too much time checking in on the damn thing when I could be actually productive.

At any rate, I thought it might be an interesting read for the “hip and trendy” Facebook power-users among us. How about you? Any feelings of regret over your Facebook fixation?

Shamwow Scout!

February 4th, 2009 by Hilden

I guess it’s…..Shamwow Guy week as well here at Robot Panic. Shit, I love this site.

Anyway, intrepid reader Carrotpanic (the ORIGINAL fucking panic, I might add) linked a video making the fairly accurate comparison between the TF2 Scout character and Shamwow pitchman, Vince Offer.

Well, my fixation on the guy took over after viewing the linked video and I had to find more. In no time flat, I came upon this hilarious retooling of the Meet the Scout video that Valve recently released. Accurate, I say. Accurate.

Enjoy.
