We love this man more than we can say and we look forward to seeing him every year. Meanwhile, our wallets and significant others cry tears as we spend way too much on all the import gaming awesomeness that he provides.

It’s our friend Carlson from Mad-Gear.com! Here’s a quick look at his booth at the 2009 Midwest Gaming Classic!

Midwest Gaming Classic – This Weekend!

March 17th, 2009 by John

We’ve been talking about it for months and now the Midwest Gaming Classic is upon us. Taking place this Saturday and Sunday, March 21st and 22nd, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, there are hundreds of reasons for you to attend. First and foremost are the people. Community members such as Phneri, The Danger Boy, DJ Incompetent, SimpleNate,Tiggermango, Apoch, Carlson from Mad-Gear.com, and many, many more will all be attending. And you’ve always wanted to meet Phneri. Admit it. In addition, tons of friends from VGEvo will be there, such as Trickman Terry, Sushi-X, Torgo, Savory Cade, and more. And really, if travel distance is a concern for you consider this: RPT is coming…and that guy is from Australia! The best part? All these people will be hanging out not only at the show, but also at the fourth annual after party on Saturday night. Drinks, games, and good times will be had by all in both the Robot Panic suite and the various VGEvo rooms.

But let’s say you’re antisocial and don’t care about meeting people. Fair enough. At the Midwest Gaming Classic there are literally hundreds of console, PC, arcade, and pinball games for you to bury your heads in and they’re all set to free play. Is there an old Colecovision, TurboGrafx-16, or Atari 7800 game you’ve been dying to play? Or have you always wanted to play an antique pinball game but never had the opportunity? The Midwest Gaming Classic is the perfect place to find those rare gems.

Ok, so you’re thinking that making a long drive might not be worth it just to hang out with our drunk asses and play video games. You want prizes, don’t you? Free shit? Well, you greedy bastard, there are dozens of contests going on throughout the weekend, many of them hosted by your friendly neighborhood Drunken Gamers. Here’s the complete schedule of Robot Panic-hosted events at Midwest Gaming Classic:

Both Days

* Pin*Bot High Score Tournament

Saturday

* 10:00-4:15 – Electronic Gaming Tattoo Contest registration
* 2:00 – MGC / Robot Panic Hall of Fame
* 2:30 – Dance like a Robot contest
* 3:00-4:30 – Midwest Game Show Classic
* 4:30-5:00 – Electronic Gaming Tattoo Contest reveals and winners
* 5:00-7:00 – Robot Panic / 102.9 Guitar Hero Finals
* 7:00 – Drawing for PS3 or Six Flags tickets

Sunday

* 1:00-2:00 – Robot Panic / FM 101/1 Guitar Hero Battle of the Bands
* 2:00-2:30 – Interview with John Trudeau
* 4:00 – Drawing for PS3 or Six Flags tickets

And that’s just what’s going on at our booth. Check out the full schedule of events and contests here.

We hope to see you all there!

Watchmen Meetup/Viewing: This Friday!

March 1st, 2009 by John

After months of anticipation, the Watchmen movie is almost upon us. To celebrate its release and the end of the Watchmen Book Club, we’re organizing a little meetup this Friday, March 6th for the 7pm show at the CineMagic Atlantis 15. It’s a great theater that just opened a few months ago. Unfortunately, the bar/restaurant isn’t yet open, so if we decide to go for drinks afterward we’ll have to figure something else out. Unfortunately, because it’s Burnsville, our options are limited to chain joints.

Anyway, if you’d like to get together and watch the flick, here’s what you need to do:

1) Go here and order your tickets AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I assume that tickets will be selling fast, so make sure you do this as soon as you’re able.

2) Send us an email at mailbag@drunkengamersradio.com with the subject “WATCHMEN MEETUP”. Also, post in the comment section below to let us know you’re coming. Once we get your email, we’ll respond with details on where to meet and how to contact us. Please don’t be a homicidal maniac. We have families.

3) Plan on getting to the theater early – 6:30 at the latest.

4) Get ready to nerd out. Seriously. I’ve read the book twice in the last week and am probably going to be that geek who rambles on and on about the accuracy of Dr. Manhattan’s schlong size. So yeah, be prepared.

Here’s the theater address:

14401 Burnhaven Drive
Burnsville, MN 55306
(763) 746-0456

For those familiar with the area, it’s in the east parking lot of the Burnsville Mall, just off of 35W and County Road 42.

We hope to see you there!

2009 Robot Panic Oscar Pool

February 18th, 2009 by Mitch

After a year of great films, the 2009 Academy Awards are almost here. To celebrate, we here at Robot Panic will be holding an Oscar Pool. All you have to do is fill out your entry form, (more about that below) send it in before noon CST this Sunday, and join us on our uStream page on Sunday night as we live chat the awards!

Now, on to how you enter. We’ll be scoring this a little differently than normal. For each category, you will make two picks, rather than the usual one. The first will be the film that you predict will win the award. If you get that right, you will receive two points. The second pick will be the film that you want to win the award. If you get that right, then you will get one point. For example, let’s say I want Kung Fu Panda to win for best animated film, but I predict that Wall-E will win. Here is what that will look like on my ballot:

Best Animated Film:

1.) Wall-E

2.) Kung Fu Panda

Remember, the first pick will be the prediction, and your second will be the pick you want to win. If it helps, you may put a (p) next to your prediction and a (w) next to the one you want to win. So here’s all you have to do:

1. – Copy the below ballot into Word or your word processor/email client of choice.

2. – Go here for a list of all the nominees.

3. – Fill in each spot on the ballot with your choices for that category.

4. – Send your entry to mailbag@drunkengamersradio.com with the subject “Robot Panic Oscar Ballot: (Your name here)” before noon CST on Sunday.

5. – Join us at 7:00 CST on Sunday at the uStream page (located here) to live chat the awards and see how you’re doing!

Now snag the ballot after the break and get to it!

Left 4 Dead Valentines!

February 5th, 2009 by Hilden

survivorvalentine
Well, it’s that time of year when you tell the one you love just how much he/she means to you. And what better way than with a Valentines Day message inspired by the Robot Panic 2008 Game of the Year, Left 4 Dead!

I don’t know about you, but nothing says “I love you” like a Boomer spewing bile all over the place. And if the sweet caresses of the undead that are soon to follow don’t say “Be Mine!”, then nothing ever will! If you love your significant other, then it’s time to send them these awesome Valentine’s Day messages!

Images of the rest of the cards after the jump. You can find the full version of these printable masterpieces here. Thanks to Kelly for pointing these out to us!
