The Music of Team Fremont Live

July 22nd, 2010 by Hilden

As a way of saying thank you to the very many of you who have been listening since the beginning, we’ve put out this disc of music from the first two years or so of the Team Fremont Live podcast.

We’ve had a bunch of people over the last year ask if there was any way to get certain songs that we no longer use, and I think most of them are here. I’m sorry if a favorite of yours didn’t make the list. There’s no other reason than it was lost or deleted by me. Despite that, I hope there’s something for everyone in this collection.

There are 26 tracks in total. The last five or six of those are things that I started working on in 2005-2006 but never released or never finished. Also included are some liner notes, giving some of my thoughts on the songs.

You can find the collection by clicking on the banner at the top of the RobotPanic main page.

We hope you enjoy the collection and once again, thanks for listening.

Because we love you, Hilden did something nice. But don’t get excited: it’s not gonna last.

Enjoy it while you can. And thanks for five great years. Or…at least…five years.

Time to Posse Up

June 7th, 2010 by Ryker XL

RDR

Alright pardners (and Moe), I do believe that it is time for us to saddle up and hit the plains together in a DGR community playdate!  Let’s posse up as many of us as we can in a private server for some Red Dead Redemption Free Roam and Gang War action. The time I would like to propose for such a get together would be this coming Sunday eveing, June 13th, from 8:00 -10:00 CST.

Why Posse up?  Well after another great night of roaming the plains with Mitchi’s Outlaws, I was reminded about just how GREAT gaming has become since I virtually eliminated the D-bag factor.  Before joining the DGR and surrounding communities I would frequently find myself pulling my hair out (and trust me there isn’t much left these days) putting up with loud-mouthed kids or grievers who found great pleasure in ruining the online experience for us.  Those days are mostly gone, and while I do find myself getting into a public game every now and then, I vastly perfer gaming with the awesome people we have here, many of whom have become dear and good friends in real life.

We have a section with gamertags on the site, but with the influx of folks that have contributed lately, so it may not be a bad time to send the call out for folks to post their gamertags here and join in on the fun.  Hopefully PanicBot can then turn this information into a new up-to-date list of bad ass, drunk gamers!

I’ll start:

Xbox Live = Ryker XL

PSN = Ryker_XL

Steam = Ryker XL (Hey I see a pattern)

See you Sunday pardner!  Unless yer yella…

Robot Panic Summer Film Festival 2010

June 1st, 2010 by Mitch

Wake up and smell the sunscreen, folks. It’s summer once again, and you know what that means; It’s time once again for the Robot Panic Summer Film Festival. That’s right, all those months of trudging through snow and slaving over essays have finally paid off, and it’s time to kick back and enjoy some great film.

For those of you unfamiliar with the film festival, it was started three years ago as a means to collectively expand our film knowledge while counteracting the worst of the mindless summer action film. But before you say “Why would i do that? Movies are supposed to be FUN!” know that the goal of the festival isn’t to intimidate you or force you to trudge through hours of David Lynch pictures and hours-long Werner Herzog epics (as much as I may love them).

The name of the game has always been accessibility, and in curating the list of films this year, I’ve taken that into account more than ever. This year’s line-up is comprised of 12 great, thoughtful and discussion-provoking films that even the most budding film-lover can enjoy. The list includes French New-Wave films, modern classics, horror films, comedies, some over-looked, and some widely regarded among the best of all time. There’s something here for everyone, and this promises to be the most exciting year yet.

Live Show Tonight!

May 15th, 2010 by John

It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally ready to unveil our new studio tonight via a live show on Ustream. Moe’s been hard at work for the last several months constructing the most lavish, indulgent recording space ever conceived and we can’t wait to show it off.

Join us for the usual tomfoolery as we drink, read your letters, insult one another, mug for the camera, take your phone calls, and maybe talk about games a little. Our good friend, and Robot Panic contributor, Ryker_XL will be on hand to operate the camera, so expect to see more than the few stationary camera angles we usually put out during these live shows. We’re going hi-tech, baby!

The live video stream will begin at 8pm Central (adjust for DGR time accordingly). You can access the show by hitting the “DGR Live” link at the top of this page. Or, if you want to join in the chat room, you can access our Ustream page here.

We’ll see you all tonight!

Vindication

April 25th, 2010 by Moe

Gentle readers, I present to you irrefutable evidence that popular music has not only reached the end of the road, but snapped an axel, blown a tire, cranked a hard left, rolled through the median and careened off not one, but twelve cliffs.  Some twice.  Now bask in the sultry voices of our prophets and warm yourselves by the oil fire.

Vic Viper Gradius II Contest

March 19th, 2010 by John

As you may have heard on this week’s podcast, we’re giving away three Vic Viper Gradius II Version models to the three best epic shmup poems we receive. In addition, the grand prize will be awarded one of these models along with a TurboGrafx-16 and a copy of Galaga ’90.

The Gradius models were donated to us by the good folks at www.HLJ.com and our longtime friend The Danger Boy, who runs a site and a podcast over at www.HenshinJustice.com.

To enter, using the Shmopera for inspiration, write your own shmup-related story in the style of an epic poem. Weave us a tail of heroism and defeat, honor and betrayal… You know, all that bullshit. The top three entries will receive one of the models and the best overall will also receive Moe’s TurboGrafx and Galaga ’90.

Send your entries to mailbag@drunkengamersradio.com.

Good luck!
