The EA game was Majestic. Sort of a X-Files/conspiracy theory mystery game.

That’s the one! I knew it started with an M. Thanks!

Incidentally, I discovered after we recorded this that Miner Dig Deep is a near clone of an old DOS game called Miner VGA, which you can play for free here: minervga.blogspot.com. I still recommend downloading MDD, though, as it’s only 200pts ($2.50-ish) and a load of fun.

I think Majestic was way ahead of its time. It would be really cool to get an updated version on a mobile platform. You could have the app and still do the IM (AIM, MSN, Yahoo, whatever) thing if you really wanted to.
Now, I’m going to ride a horse and parachute into the jungle to save my brother from the CIA-backed despots I’m trying to overthrow with my grappling hook. All for you, John.
See… that’s a game that would be fuckin awesome.

Oh, and with Devil Survivor, the ebayish auction thing CAN screw you. Occasionally a demon will say “You know what? Fuck you. Pay me double.”
at least for me grinding does kick in on day seven, but that may be my need to optimize.

Hi guys,
This was a great show. I love your retro-reviews. When I was a small child, I owned Vanguard for the 2600. Just so you know the *why* of the annoying-ass control scheme, Vanguard was actually an adaptation from an early 80′s coin-op game that I used to play at podunk fairs.
The reason: The coin-op version features a joystick and four buttons. Since the 2600 only has one button, I figure that adapters had to create a way to “adjust” your motion due to the fact that you can’t fire without moving. I think that’s why the fire button quick-moves you.
I just thought I’d offer some useless old-people trivia to you. I’ll go back to eternally chewing on my gums and hallucinating about the war.

Any show that starts off and ends with some “Schoolhouse Rock” has to kick ass! Thanks so much for another great show. (Although I still think a Producer wouldn’t hurt)
Great reviews as well. I’ll be downloading Battlefield 1943 tonight and hope to grab some folks for online shenanigans, that is if Lefty Brown and B Nerdy hasn’t grabbed everyone for Left 4 Dead.

If you liked miner dig deep and have an Ipod touch/Iphone check out I dig it. It is on sale for $0.99 right now and is more than worth it.

I think the idea of creating a library of of games etc. Criterion movies comes to mind. They back up, reprint, etc highly influential movies throughout the industry.

Maybe there should be some sort of electronic device that shocks all 3 hosts when you go over 90 minutes and doesn’t stop until the show is over.

Don’t feel bad… I thought Battlefield: 1943 was a retail release, too.
I jumped into a game with Hilden and Moe for a couple rounds the other night. I was on the opposing side. Thanks for padding my stats you two! For the record, the right trigger fires your weapon.

Oh, and the ATROCIOUS problems facing the Xbox Live version seem to be ironed out now. Twelve-year-olds not withstanding. Coral Sea has been unlocked now, too.

A downloadable demo of Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman has been available for a few weeks. Really weird little game, definitely worth checking out. And yes, the PSP can connect directly to the PSN store and download stuff (or download from PC/PS3 and transfer). Has been able to for quite awhile through the magic of something called “the internet”.

I’ve been playing Mass Effect Galaxy. I agree that it would be a better game if they took out the actual game parts.

It was good to hear Hilden back at the controls. Moe is the master derailer of topics. John love you too: like the 3rd child I never had.

Congrats on the 4 years! I think I made it about a year in, and enjoy every episode.

Incidentally, Hilden made it so the show notes are now available on your iPod. So…yay Hilden!
July 16th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Does it show up only on iPods or all mp3 players with video screens?
July 16th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
And WoW Peggle finally makes WoW fun.
July 16th, 2009 at 2:17 pm
No idea about the mp3 player question. Hilden might know. And Peggle makes everything fun. Except Moe and Hilden. Peggle just makes them assholes.
July 16th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
And thanks for brining me up in the podcast. Haha. I would have said something earlier if I didn’t stop the show to go out and pull some weeds.

On Zune the first 70-90 characters of show notes are displayed…….thats it
