We’ve changed the format up a little bit this week and we hope you enjoy the new segment, Feature Presentation. This week we talk a lot about one of our most memorable games, Punch Out!. In addition, we talk the ups and downs of Capcom’s latest trip to the Bionic Commando well.
Special thanks to Phil Haymes, Deadward, Bad Bad LeRoy Brown, QuVat and Reed Grimm for contributing to this week’s Feature Presentation segment. If you have suggestions for a future segment, feel free to leave them in the comment section or leave them in all the usual places listed below.

Little Hilden can hit me when he’s purple anytime.

John, Fallout 3 has done the same thing to me. I’ve clocked in close to 60 hours on my MAIN profile! But I find it a lot more addictive than Oblivion because of the dialog system and VATS system. Also, all the DLC is great, get all of it plus there’s more of it coming in the summer!
As for the new format, I like it, mixing things up every so often is always good idea, even if only temporary.
As for the Feature Presentation, I would recommend why you started playing games and why you continued.

I beat the shit out off Fallout 3. So addictive.
Also I would swing with Hilden anytime =)

Glad you liked the Gibsons guys, and it was nice to meet all of you.
John, my girlfriend really liked your glasses, she says hi.
Next time I’ll get her to buy a bottle too, make it an even 2L.

Well, my faith in Sucker Punch was well founded. I just played 4 hours of inFamous and only stopped because I’m fucking tired and need to go to bed. It’s like a wonderful cross between Sly Cooper and Crackdown, which are two wonderful games. I really disliked the demo, but the full game has made me very, very happy.

I absolutely love inFamous! That game is ridiculously addictive. I’ve played about 5 or 6 hours of it today.

I second the opinions of the people above me. InFAMOUS is fucking awesome. Very well realized world and fantastic combat

Also, I LOVE the Feature Presentation. If I knew it was going to be for this psuedo documentary thing I would’ve said something a little more profound, but I really dig it.

@Moe
When the Yoshis were singing, I always thought they were saying “the asssshoooole”
I don’t mind the format switching around. I prefer the mailbag at the front and the what you’re playing at the back though. The rest can be wherever. I guess it makes sense for reviews to be first because that’s what people are there for or something.
The A&E Feature Presentation bit is great. I like you worked the grindhouse cinema jingle up front. I love how Hilden has so much talent he can sound like the lovechild of a narrator robot and a used car salesman, then respond to his own documentary as a regular passer-by in his genuine voice the very next scene. That was hilarious.
I’d prefer the news and release list be left in though. I like it when you guys rip on the news.
Also, Raiden IV coming US, woo! Team Fremont delayed interview prophecies for the wins.

@ DJI: Yeah, I thought it was weirdly funny that I basically introduced myself. But that’s what happens when you don’t plan very well for this shit.
As far as News goes, when it makes an appearance as a segment (which it will every now and again), it’ll probably be more of a humor piece where we pick news that’s odd or funny comment on that. As far as the standard, “here’s the news” segment goes, I think it’s pretty much dead in the water.
We’re glad people are digging the Feature Presentation. We’re still tweaking the order of things, so nothing is set in stone at this point. We’re just trying to keep from sounding like every other fucking multi-person podcast on the planet and we figure some changes after 4 years of the same would be a healthy thing.

@DJI I second the LOVE for the Grindhouse Feature Presentation music and I enjoyed the segmanet very much. Just a suggestion, does it always have to be about games? Could it be about current buzz-worthy events such as the recent movies, bands, or other geek-worthy discussions?
Oh and I don’t have a PS3, but “Infamous” makes me want to go and get one TODAY!

The plan seems to be to keep the Feature Presentation gaming related. Or, at least relevant to the games in some way. That’s not to say that something that is related to the game, such as a band or movie, wouldn’t be a nice interesting off-shoot for the feature.

That intro may just have earned you guys an exciting new demographic.
May 27th, 2009 at 9:37 am
@Ryker: The idea is to make the feature different each week. It’s just a spot for us to stick whatever idea we have for that week.
@DJ: We’ll bring back the news from time to time as well. The episode after next will definitely feature news as it comes right after E3 and to ignore that would be dumb of us.

ugghhh… someone needs to slap me the next time I think about saying anything over the internet…
I’m digging the new segment. It worked especially in with the interview style parts, great addition to the show!

The new format is cool, when I first heard it I thought of “A life well wasted”.
I would love to play inFamous but alas I have no PS3 and don’t have the looks to sell myself on the street to get the money to buy one.
May 27th, 2009 at 12:28 pm
I would love to buy InFamous but $60 games aren’t in my budget right now.
May 27th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
I hear that. Maybe I’ll go back and play Sly 2 and 3 (bought, and still wrapped).
May 27th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
@Hilden & John, cool beans man, I trust your creative genius, keep up the good work!

Chris, your mail was funny. Good show

Methinks we need to break out the swear jar again.
May 28th, 2009 at 10:34 am
Yeah, I was noticing that at the end as well. Next episode, f-bomb=shot.
And someone is going to have to drive me home.

Just listened to your show, great as always. At the start when you mentioned some Canadian bringing you some really good whiskey, I thought to myself “Wouldn’t it be cool if it was a bottle of Gibbys?” And sure enough, next words John says is Gibsons Finest. Been drinkin that stuff since I was like 12. My absolute favorite stuff out there.
Keep up the good great shows guys.
May 29th, 2009 at 11:16 am
Hey guys, great show as always. Fallout 3 didn’t suck me in the way that Oblivion did for some reason. I think it is because there isn’t a whole lot of cool loot to be had in FO3. Despite that, I really enjoyed the game and I hope that the next Elder Scrolls game incorporates some of the same ideas. Get rid of that persistent levelling bs, guys!

I just got around to listening to this week’s episode. I like the format change so far, although the fact that the news segment is gone is somewhat troubling. That was always one of my favorite segments. But otherwise, it’s change I can believe in!

We’re still tinkering. We’ll be messing around with it a bit on today’s podcast as well.
I guess I should explain a bit why we’re trying to change things up a bit. First of all, we’ve been doing the exact same format for the better part of four years, so it’s gotten a little old for us. And when we first started, there were only a handful of gaming podcasts out there so the whole “news/reviews/mailbag/what we’re playing” schtick didn’t feel too played out. Well, four years later it seems that everybody and their mother is sticking to the same format. So aside from us wanting to change things for our own sanity’s sake, we also want to try to differentiate the podcast a little bit so first time listeners aren’t like, “Oh wow…three guys sitting around a table talking about the same shit as every other gaming podcast.”
So yeah. We’ll be mixing it up a bit as time goes on and hopefully we’ll find something as comfortable as what we have been doing. At the same time, we’re not exactly reinventing the wheel here. We’re still doing reviews, mailbag, etc. So we’ll still be three guys sitting around a table talking about the same old shit.

Really, whatever floats your boat is fine with me. The more creative stuff you guys do, the better. I wouldn’t mind if it ends up that the show is shorter because more time has to be put into these features. Just do what you’re passionate about and the results will be accordingly genuine and worthwhile.
