We’re proud of many things on this site, but I think I can speak for the three of us when I say that this makes us pretty damn happy with ourselves.

It’s the Grand Finale of the Shmopera and we’ve brought in the infamous Phil Haymes who lends his Rock God status to the track and…shit…just takes it to a whole new level. As is his way. Make sure to give a shout out to Phil Haymes in the comments for his awesome guitar work on this track. A sincere and heartfelt thanks to you, my friend.

To recap for those who may have missed it:

The Captain, self proclaimed King of Silver City, has lost it all. The Spacebot is victorious and has destroyed all that the Captain knows and loves.

The Captain is out for revenge and in his most vengeful moment, he discovers a truth that leads to the ultimate ending.

We hope you have enjoyed the 2009 Shmopera as much as we have in making it. We present the conclusion with Act 4, in the Audio Format of the Future: Stereo.

    Niiiiiice. I have to say that the guitar was the best part of this series, but Hildens screaming is also much appreciated. Say, can we get this series as a download? Please.

    AWESOME AWESOME stuff!!! Only one thing could have made it better….PIGS! (jk)

    This was incredible. Fantastic job, guys. You too, Phil. Great job.

    Very nice guys, especially Phil!

    So, if the captain is the spacebot…how did he blow him up at the end of the first shmopera? Or, did he become the spacebot after that? That would make more sense…

    Tyler Durden shit, man.

  5. John Says:

    The Captain is not literally the Spacebot. It’s a metaphor, man. Deep, deep shit. ;)

  6. Ryker XL Says:

    Kinda like “The Curse of the Black Freighter”

  7. slug Says:

    You guys raised the bar from last year — amazing stuff. Oscar, rock-em-sock-em robots, guitar solos. Cut an album already!

    @John

    So, you’re saying it’s like a terrorist vs. freedom fighter which way you look at it type thing?

  9. John Says:

    If you want to go down that path, sure.

    If you guys would dump those Shmopera songs on a CD, I’d totally buy it. I’d totally buy it like that asshole ShamWow guy buys hookers! HEY-OH! Keeping the joke going!

  13. Fivespot Says:

    I listened to the latest installment of the Shmopera this morning and heard a David Gilmour influence in the guitar playing. Came to the site and see Mr. Haymes wearing a Floyd shirt and pictured in front of a Floyd poster so I guess that sound wasn’t an accident. Great guitar tone imo combining Gilmour esque sound with more modern conventions like quicker lead chops.

    I’m with Tyler’s comments. I’d buy the Shmopera on a disc if available.

    wallpapered. Outstanding work!

  15. Philthy Says:

    Afternoon all, thanks for the awesome comments. I think it’s safe to say that we all had a lot of fun putting this shit together, and as always it staggers me that we can record something like this across two continents.

    @Fivespot – glad you noticed the Gilmour influence, awesome guitarist and clearly a big influence. I guess there’s a lot of other stuff in there too – mainly my guitar tutor, Dave Weiner (www.daveweiner.com go check him out!) and hopefully a lot of my own style too.

    @Firefin – whilst I’m happy to accept awesome comments about my part in this, the true star of the Shmopera was clearly the Flugel Horn solo ^^

    @Deadward – it was a pleasure melting your face, please come back for more later.

    @anyone requesting a CD/Album. I plan on punching Hilden in the mouth until this happens.

    @Moe – I want your fanny

    Man, I was IN Silver City today. I passed through it to get to the Gila Cliff Dwellings, which rocked. The whole time I was thinking “Silver City, where have I heard that before?”

    Yeah, Silver City is kind of small, a little run down, and in the middle of nowhere. I’d hate to be the king of it.
