For those looking for the true Hi-Fi experience, here is the Stereo version of Act 2, featured this week on Drunken Gamers Radio.

In this episode:

The Captain, self-appointed king of Silver City, finds his life is not what it once was. Could someone or something be missing?

The Spacebot, newly assembled after last year’s destruction, is pissed. As all good Spacebots do, he prepares for war.

If you missed last week’s episode, you can find it here.

    Good God, y’all.

This is your best work yet. I didn’t think anything could top the ridiculous Sh-rap-ra from last week but you’ve certainly outdone yourselves with this one. Did I read correctly in that next week’s installment will be the last in this year’s Shmopera?

  2. M.C. Says:

Also, the random tiger sound effects are a nice touch.

  3. Hilden Says:

No. They’ll be two more episodes.

And that growl was actually Moe’s dog Oscar!

  4. Moe Says:

You hear that? Like a tiger! A TIGERRRRRR!!!

  5. M.C. Says:

That’s Moe’s dog? I was picturing something like Odie, but now I find that it’s actually a Ravenous Dire Hound. Keep that thing somewhere far away from me, like Minneapolis, or even St. Paul.

  6. Moe Says:

Interesting Fact – while it sounds as though the tiger (Oscar) was dismantling the Captain, in fact, we were playing frisbee.

  7. Hilden Says:

Oh God. Like you didn’t already have an over-inflated opinion of your dog, Moe. Now, there’s no living with either of you.

  8. Moe Says:

You better not be baggin’ on my dog… cuz he’ll waltz up with his big puppy eyes and blink ‘em and stuff to distract you with their beauty and then BAM! You’re playing frisbee!

    Yo.

  9. Ryker XL Says:

@Moe…at least your wife doesn’t throw Oscar on your lap with a tug rope and growl at you while your playing Chromehounds…

I have to say this is simply fantastic and amazing work. Not just because it’s about schmups, but as a piece of musical art it’s just brilliant. The lyrics from the Captian’s ballad were somber and reminded me of our Night Owl discussions from Wathmen. He needs to be the captain or he has no purpose. Likewise the SpaceBots need War or they have no purpose…Again… BRILLIANT!!

The Spacebot chorus was very Wagner like, and one that I wouldn’t mind having in the background while attacking the Gaza Oil fields or griefing the survivors in Left 4 Dead. Catchy, powerful, inspiring, that takes work my friends. Great job!

Anyhoo, kudos to another great chapter. As someone who has been in the biz for a good part of my life, I can appreciate not only your talent, but your passion as well. Can’t wait for the next installment, and keep up the great work…we appreciate it!

I’ll have you know that we just listened as a family right after dinner. My 2 year old was singing along with the spacebots toward the end. I’m a bit scared as to what her future holds…

  11. Tiggermango Says:

Well done again, and an excellent debut by Oscar. Never get between that dog and his frisbee! I will be sure to bring him an empty soda bottle as a reward next time we’re up!

  12. damo Says:

Damn awesome job guys! Your little spacebot work tune is now stuck in my head… and I like it :-)

  13. AncientMecha Says:

Dare I say that this week’s first half was actually… touching?

  14. AncientMecha Says:

Also, I predict that the Captain and the Spacebot will make out hard core by the end of this.
