  1. John Says:

As much as I hate to do it, I’ve gotta give props to Hilden for managing to splice this bastart together. Not only did we have a million different segments, multiple guests, and a bunch of random shit to plug in, but we also recorded this episode completely out of order, making it somewhat of a jigsaw puzzle to put together.

As a result, however, it may sound a bit disjointed. I haven’t listened to it yet, but I will say that I felt a bit discombobulated during the review segment and probably forgot to mention a bunch of stuff that I should have.

  2. Hilden Says:

Yeah, this episode was a damn chore to put together. I think it turned out alright. However, it was one in the morning by the time I finished up so I may have missed a lot of shit.

By the way, our site was acting up last night and there were some question marks regarding getting the iTunes feed out there. Are folks getting this in their iTunes podcast que? If not, post it here and I’ll try getting it fixed.

  3. SimpleNate Says:

    I couldn’t.

  4. BetaRayRyan Says:

    I couldn’t either.

  5. helicine Says:

Yeah, the iTunes feed is reporting an invalid URL.

  6. Hilden Says:

Okay. Thanks guys. I’ll get on the feed issue and try and figure out what the problem is.

  7. M.C. Says:

In the meantime, if you’re really in a pinch, search for “Intergalactic Shmuppreciation Month” on iTunes and subscribe to that. I added the new episode of DGR to that podcast feed, and have verified that it downloads fine in iTunes.

  8. Hilden Says:

    Thanks M.C!

  9. ilduce620 Says:

    Almost 4:00 CST…still a question mark on the feed…

Guess I’ll just have to turn on some Journey and listen to the GWJ Conference Call instead… :-P

  10. conkers209 Says:

    Robert here,

Just to let you know, its 4:57pm EST in Georgia and it still can’t download. Thought I add on to this.

  11. conkers209 Says:

Because I’m a fucktard I forgot to add that I did use the “intergalactic Shmuppreciation Month” to get the episode, so that is a temporary solution for now. Until next Episode…..

  12. Hilden Says:

Ok. Should be good now. Thank god for feed validation services. Fucking “&” symbol that I didn’t escape fucked the whole thing up.

I need a rehash in web programing bullshit. Thank you for waiting, everyone.

  13. Fivespot Says:

I’m one of those Zune bastards and the Zune feed is still a “?”. Looking forward to hearing it once I get it working. Tried unsubscribing and then subscribed again with the same result. Strangely none of the prior shows are coming up either.

  14. Hilden Says:

Shit, not sure why that’s happening. I’ll do some digging to see if I need to do anything fancy for the Zune crowd.

  15. skreesha Says:

The Zune feed is working now.

  16. Hilden Says:

I put up a quick subscription link for Zune users on the DGR Page. Not sure if it works, as I don’t have the software, but if any of you Zune users want to try it out for me I’d be grateful.

  17. Fivespot Says:

Got it. Zune feed works now. Thanks so much. Need my DGR fix. :)

  18. Rusty Shackleford Says:

I listened to this episode while eating biscuits and gravy, which just added to the greatness of this episode. More people should try it.

  19. Savory Cade Says:

I hate to say it, but I completely agree; avoid Legacy of Ys. This version is just awful. Buy the Turbo CD version or import the incredible PC versions that this version mutilated. At least Atlus did a good job on the translation and the music arrangements are pretty good.

It isn’t necessarily Falcom’s fault there’s so many versions of Ys I & II. Most of these were licenesed to 3rd parties who wanted to remake or port them. Falcom themselves haven’t touched Ys I & II since the PC remakes from 1998 and 2000. Ys I & II Chronicles will be the first time they’ve touched them since then. If they remake them like the newer Ys sequels (completely 3D with an incredible action-RPG combat system) they’ll be pretty awesome. Besides, Falcom has actually released around a dozen SEQUELS to their games and original titles in the last 10 years, not just remakes. :-p

  20. awesomo316 Says:

Awesome show as always gents. My email was the one about where you get reviews from so your feedback was helpful.
I’m still not sold on The Watchmen game – $20 for 4 hours gameplay is a bit weak… plus translating to Australian dollars would be about $30 which makes it worse.

  21. Fivespot Says:

A Boy and His Blob is one of my favorite NES games from back in the day. Maybe I’m alone but I totally dug it. Of course this is coming from the guy who thought the first Mickey Mouse game on the Genesis was also fantastic. Was that Castle of Illusion? It’s been so many years.

Loved the Shmopera. Good luck topping that one. Seriously though, well written even if humorous and goofy. I also write music, not professionally of course, and I can tell you gents really know what you’re doing.

    See ya next weekend.

  22. Zinswin Says:

Great show guys. It was an honor sitting at the bar with the illustrious group. Spacebots will be dancin’ on your grave, indeed.

John, I’m sure you know, but Peggle is now out for XBLA. Pick that shit up! Hilden, Moe, it’s only a matter of time before you bow to Peggle. I have a feeling the unicorn shooting rainbows out of its ass has a titanium skeleton housing a humming robotic spacebot brain.

  23. M.C. Says:

Good call, Zinswin. At the very least, you guys should try out the cooperative online multiplayer mode in Peggle XBLA in time for the next episode.

  24. Tiggermango Says:

Great show indeed, and a very nice job of editing too! Thanks for having us, we had a ton of fun. And Zin, a big thanks to you for the additional drinks!

  25. M.C. Says:

By the way, I haven’t said this yet; but I really enjoyed this episode. Segments like the Shmopera, or the Dramatic Forum Readings, or even the Moe Minute– these represent a level of care and creativity that no other gaming podcast provides, save perhaps for A Life Well Wasted. This episode ranks among the few podcasts this year that I have listened to more than once. There’s just more life in it than in other shows; and as a listener, that’s what I crave.

  26. John Says:

Thanks MC. That means a lot. We appreciate it!

  27. Gruel Says:

I really dug the shmoppera, agree with all that this episode was a fantastic listen! Made a long 4 hour drive over the weekend fly by!

  28. D.J.I. Says:

    24 THE PINBALL TABLE!!!
    o-mi-god-o-mi-god-o-mi-god-o-mi-god-o-mi-god-o-mi-god-o-mi-god-o-mi-god!!

This could be the greatest thing ever if they do the sound bites right.

  29. carrotpanic Says:

    “YEH”

    “SON OF A BITCH”

  30. carrotpanic Says:

By the way, if you watch 24 play a drinking game where you take a few swigs every time someone (usually Jack or Tony, but sometimes Renee this season) says “Yeh.” and finish the drink on “Son of a Bitch!”

  31. D.J.I. Says:

hahaha, we used to drink whenever we heard “Dammit!” “There’s no time!” “____# of innocent lives are in danger!” “Enhance the image!”, and anytime somebody referenced terrorists.

I’ve still never consciously seen an entire episode.

  32. John Says:

Epilogue to this episode: “Big news today from Japan for those who like to action RPG on the go. Nihon Falcom announced today that Ys Seven and Ys I&II Chronicles are both in development for the PSP, with Japanese releases planned for this fall!” From IGN.
