I just caught this over at Ain’t it Cool and had to share it with the rest of you. Let’s consider it a little primer for our Watchmen Book Club, shall we?

Download the Watchmen App on your iPod Touch or iPhone. It has a ton of videos, and even some faux commercials like these. Veidt perfumes and colognes, Veidt Tennis shoes, and the such.
Its just like the Dark Knight. They both have these cool marketing techniques that really get you excited to see the movie.

That’s awesome, and the details the production team took to make it look like it’s from the 1970s is pretty astonishing. It also shows how little the people of this world knew of Dr. Manhatten and the power he poseses. It’s one of the central themes of the book, having the power to interfere and choosing to let fate win.

I mentioned it before but it bears mentioning here as it’s quite topical. Comic Geek Speak is doing a weekly retrospective on Watchmen. They do one issue per show and go through page-by-page, panel-by-panel. It is awesome and I have gotten so much more out of the book from listening to it. I hope the movie lays on the Cold War stuff as thick as the book does. I’m excited about reading it again – starting it tonight.

Q those podcasts are the effing bomb! For those who think they know the Watchmen, listen to Footnotes on issue 5, it will blow your mind!

@ Ryker – I completely agree. I don’t know how I never got the whole symmetry thing but now that I’m aware it changes the whole issue. Great, great stuff.
