A Sense of Place

Robot Panic is first and foremost a place where we find things that we love or are excited about and share it with others.

With that in mind, I point you to this fantastically moving piece, written by Julian “Rabbit” Murdoch. The article is entitled A Sense of Place and can be found by following that link or going to Gamers with Jobs.

If games “jounalism” is to ever reach the credibility it deserves, then we need more pieces like this one. Games journalism has, for too long, been about a product and whether or not you should purchase said product. Sometimes it’s about how the products rate in comparison to each other or in the grand scheme of “games” as a whole.

In rare cases, one such as this, games journalism takes on a whole new level as we finally read a piece that puts our hobby squarely in a place where gaming and being a gamer actually mean something.

I was rather moved and I hope you will be too. Give it a read.

I’m really looking forward to reading this when I get home. I’ve always found the articles at GWJ to be ahead of the curb, those guys are so damn smart.

Also thought I’d point out Julian’s last name is spelt “Murdoch” :)

Ahead of the curb or ahead of the curve :)
