Lightening Force isn’t a spin-off, it’s just the shitty US name for Thunder Force IV.
It’s been a long time since I played it, but I think TFV did have a couple 3Dish segments. I’m pretty sure the “missle chase” scene in VI is ripped directly from it. Most of the TF games let you choose your initial level order.

Why is Sega talking about Nintendo’s console and not their own console?
And John, this year saw Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Kart Wii. I don’t know how you can have a sucky year when 3 games were released were just about everyone raved and called them the best installments in their series. You also got No More Heroes, Blast Works, Boom Blox, Castle of Shikigami III (actually I can’t remember if this was popular among the shooter fans or not but I am putting it in this list just in case), and uh.. that is all I can remember off the top of my head. I was going to put in Okami but since that is a port I didn’t include it.

Galaxy was last year. And the rest of those games (aside from Blast Works) were out many months ago. There hasn’t been a decent Wii release since Blast Works and Shikigami. And while those were good games, they certainly weren’t spectacular.
Anyway, I guess what we were trying to say is that this is a pretty shitty holiday for Nintendo. Seriously: one title in the entire holiday season. And that title is Animal Crossing. What the hell are they doing over there?
However, as we mentioned, next year looks to be quite a bit better, though I only see a few first-party titles so far (Punch Out, Wii Sports 2, and Pikmin 3), but I’m sure more will be announced. Then again, you can never tell with them these days.

Do you guys even get my emails?

Phil pimped your show and robot panic on this weeks 1up FM. Solid.

“Do you guys even get my emails?”
Yes Lag. We’re still catching up on emails. We’ve got a big pile to get through.

Lag, I found your email shoved into the seat of my car.
IS THIS YOUR HOMEWORK LARRY?

“This is what happens you when you FUCK SOMEONE IN THE ASS!”
Man that’s my favorite scene in a movie filled with millions of favorites.
Wow, that was really nice of Phil. Thanks, man!!

*sigh*
Hilden…you need to at least get the quote right. I’m so ashamed of you right now.
It’s not “someone”, it’s “a stranger”.
You should be embarrassed.

And yeah, Phil, thanks for the plug. Very nice.

John, you said 2008 and early 2008 is still 2008.

Not that it matters, but I say TFL Forums Member of the Year 2006, Rusty Shackleford, wins this round. Those are some pretty good games. But, I suppose the clarification would be that John was looking at the past couple months and the upcoming holiday season and wondering what Nintendo is doing with all their time…. Probably making god’s eyes out of yarn and sticks they gathered in the woods. Then it’s off to the canteen for a quick snack and a letter home to mom and dad. Sleep-away camp sure has been fun this year!

Dear John
I’m a jack ass, and I’m sorry

Well the funny thing is, Nintendo doesn’t have to put out good games in order for them to sell. Sure, having Mario Galaxy was nice, but they don’t give a flying fuck about hardcore gamers anymore, hence “Animal Crossing 3: Hand Nintendo Your Money While They Smash Your Nuts In The Door”.

I haven’t listened to this week’s DGR yet, (saving it up for the yardwork I have to do today), but congrats on the 1UP FM plug! I was just listening to it and was shocked to hear one of the readers mention you guys.
And as a side note, Phil and Nick have really done something fantastic with that show. I loved EGM Live and all, but they’ve made it into so much more, and it’s awesome.

Yeah, CoD:Word at War deserves flack for that awful commercial and being yet another WWII game, but I gotta admit the unlockable Nazi Zombie Mode looks really cool:

I suppose it’s no Left 4 Dead.

Now that Hot Shots Golf for the PS3 has been updated with voice chat support, are you guys planning to re-review it for next week’s show? I remember that was one of your biggest complaints about the game originally (and rightfully so).
November 16th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Re-review it? Probably not. The lack of voice chat was my biggest gripe, but the lack of turn-based play sucks as well.
