Flip Video on Sale
**UPDATE: It looks like there are two varieties in the stores. The regular Flip Video is selling for $50.00, the newer Flip Ultra (pictured above and reviewed in John’s earlier post) is selling for $60.00.**
For those that managed to miss out on our article about the Flip Video, you can check it out here. In that article, John talked about the wonder and the glory that is the Flip and what it can do for those of you looking for a more portable and user friendly video taking experience.
Well, we found (at least in the Twin Cities Metro area) that Blockbuster Video stores seem to be trying to get rid of these things on their clearance tables. Both Moe and Hilden found tables at their local stores and each table had a good 3-4. Retailing at around $120.00-$150.00, these babies are on sale for around $50.00! You’ll never find a better deal than that, so if you’re interested in the Flip Video (and you SHOULD be), go check out your local Blockbuster!

Which Blockbuster is the local one for you? Turns out that there are a lot of them in the Twin Cities.

I believe Hilden’s is over in Roseville. Moe and mine is in Burnsville on Cty Rd 42 and Cty Rd 5.

There’s nothing at the crappy one in that shopping center at 66th and Nicollet, in case anyone’s curious. I’ll likely be down in Burnsville this weekend, so I’ll check it out then.

Also of note:
There is an even newer Flip camera out, but it doesn’t stack up to the Ultra, apparently. I have an Ultra and I love it. Great little tool to have.

I was at my local Blockbuster and they had two versions of the Flip Video (not Ultra) available. One with 60 mins of video for $49.99, and one with 30 mins for $39.99. Didn’t see John’s Ultra there at all, and they didn’t have them on the clearance table either. They were on the back wall behind the counter. So you could essentially get away with one of these for only 40 bones, but it’s a no-brainer to spring for the extra $10 and get 30 mins more of video. I shelled out for the 60 min version. Seems a bit wider than the ultra, but it’s still a small machine. Tested a bit in low light and it worked pretty well. I have to give it a full test in brighter light situations, but so far it’s not bad for the price.
